The LFS held its first online AGM on Saturday 12th September following the postponement of the meeting in March. A total of 94 members joined us for a business meeting where the Officers gave their reports and the elections of Officers and Committee members took place.
The committee recognised the impact the COVID-19 lockdown has had on Landmark's income from visitors to the island that we all care about so dearly. The potential impact on Lundy's long-term conservation work is a huge concern so we have donated £10,000 to the appeal to support the Conservation Team and help them protect Lundy's unique wildlife.
Roger Chapple retired as Honorary Treasurer and was unanimously elected as a Vice President to recognise his significant contributions to the Society over many years both as Treasurer and Chair. Chris Dee was elected in his place as our new Honorary Treasurer, with Roger and Richard Breese joining the committee.
Following the business meeting Dean Jones, the Lundy Warden, gave us a fascinating report on Lundy's wildlife during 2019, joining us direct from Lundy. Derek Green, the Lundy General Manager, also gave us his insightful annual review of 2019 and updated members on how the island is managing to respond to the pandemic. We will make copies of these talks available shortly.
