It is with great sadness that we share news that Professor Jennifer George, Vice President of the Society, has died peacefully after a short illness.

Jenny has been studying Lundy's ponds and streams since the 1970s and has been associated with the administration of the LFS since 1981 when she joined the committee and served until 1984. She rejoined in 1987 and became our first woman chair in 1988. She served in this post until 2001 and she was elevated to Vice President the following year. In addition, Jenny was the founding editor of the LFS Journal and edited the first eight volumes from 2008 to 2020. Jenny was also the chair of the Grants sub-committee, coordinating and considering the grant applications for a long period of time.

Her contribution to the LFS has been extensive and considerable and we will miss her wise counsel.
